Great job, now the popular page simple has become polluted with people taking advantage of this failing system. It has many loopholes, and it surprised/dissapoints me that the DA staff won't listen to anyone.
Let's say you are a digital illustrator, with amazing works. You come to DA, post your works and have a zero percentage chance to be seen, because the digital category is 'too popular'? How is that helping? I would love to receive some explenation because I don't really get any of it.
How Do You Figure? It Tells The Truth. I Know That I Could Never Get Up There, But Do You Think That Now That The New System Is In Place You Won't Get The Horde Of Attention That You Normally Do? You'll Still Have All Your Watchers Now, And There ARE Other Ways To Find Somebody's Work Than The Front Page. And Yes, I Do Know How It Works.
"Now That The New System Is In Place You Won't Get The Horde Of Attention That You Normally Do?"
Hahaha, I knew that excuse was going to get used, because that's what the DA staff keeps calling many people, 'jealous butthurt popular person' to repeat their words. What they say is actually very unfair, because the popular aren't butthurt at all. Au the contraire, this system only adds to their popularity, creating a bigger gap between the popular artist, and the good average not popular artist.
I've been on DA for 5 years. Compared to others that have been on DA for that time, I do not get hoards of attention. Neither do I plan to get any. Because it's not about attention, it's about progress and exposure and helpfull comments. I get enough of those and I'm actually really happy with the amount of exposure I have, and I don't think that FE changed any of that, since I never needed the popular page for the amount of exposure I have now. But hey, this was never about you or me, but it's about the community, and the GROUPS of artists being ignored, not individuals.
That being said, the system seems simply unfair, and it still has a shitload of loopholes. Even more so then the previous system had. ANd ohoho I've never seen the DA staff acting so childish before. The hide behind their void excuses. Every journal from a staffmember I've read so far said something about Narutards and anime/manga. But that is because they HIDE behind those categories. Their fire everybody up with those words. Sure, most non manga/anime/fanart artists wish to see these categories receive less fame, but what they seem to forget is that they themselves are hurt by it too. But hey, that doesn't matter right, as long as those categories are hurt more? That's just silly...
No body seems to think about this system...because it only 'sounds' more fair, doesn't actually mean it IS more fair. And if they wish to work on something fair for everyone, I think alot has to change.
No, It Does Give Others More oF A Chance. They Could Do Better, But It's A Step Up. Actually, Most Popular People Are Akin To Most Rich People. In Other Words, Quite Snobbish. There Are Exceptions, But They Are Just That: Exceptions.
I Visisted Your Page, And You Do Have A Lot Of Pageviews And Watchers. Certainly Enough For Satisfaction On That. On The Groups, I Also Believe You Are Forgetting About Other Sorts Such As Writers, Poets, Photographers, Et Cetera. I, Personally, Do Not Even WANT To Be On It With Anything Other Than "Newest". So There Are A Few Big Groups That Had No Chance Of Getting On With The Old System.
Nah, It's Fairer Than The Old One. On The DA Staff, Think What You Will, But DeviantArt Wouldn't Exist And Be Operable Without Them.
It IS More Fair, And There Is Plenty Of Thought About It.
If So Much Has To Change, Why Don't You Compile It Into A Neat List And Suggest It? Just Talking About It With A Non-Admin Won't Change Anything.
I've noticed that the frontpage has become more interesting with varied artists. This makes me immensely happy to see a change up. Going to DA and seeing the same 10 or so artists and what they produced got extremely mundane.
Can you really fav your own news?
Thanks
